Introduction
A dynamic and expanding manufacturer of high volume mining support and related products requires an experienced Engineering Manager to fill this newly created position in Aeroton. The production facility is essentially a metal pressing and welding environment, with a keen focus on lean manufacturing.
Requirements:
1. 7-10 years experience in managing the maintenance function of a medium to large manufacturing concern combined with at least 5 years Project Management experience. 2. Proven track record in the industry. 3. Relevant tertiary technical qualification. 4. Government Certificate of Competency - Factories (Preferred)
Job Specification
Reporting to the GM-Supply Chain, with the Maintenance and Projects functions reporting to the Engineering Manager:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance:
(a.) Be responsible and accountable for the performance of the complete Maintenance Function.
(b) Implement and maintain leading preventative maintenance strategies.
(c). Continue to build the competence of the maintenance function.
(d) Continue to reduce frequency of breakdowns, cost of maintenance and improve plant availability.
(e) Ensure that all site facilities and equipment are maintained to safe standards as determined by the OHS Act and local municipal bylaws.
(f) Be appointed as the ‘Person Responsible for Machinery’.
(g) Ensure the seamless integration of capital project implementation and equipment maintenance.
2. Capital Projects:
(a). Manage the projects department’s key objective to implement capital and other projects to time, cost and performance expectations.
3. Custodian of technology:
(a). Continuously seek alternative and improved technology to improve manufacturing processes in terms of efficiency, quality and cost.
4. Process Improvements
Key Performance Indicators:
1. Maintenance cost.
2. Equipment availability.
3. Project success – on time, in budget at expected performance standards.
4. Proposing and implementation of agreed enhanced technologies
